Meet Arwen, affectionately called the Gremlin by her foster mom and pretty much everyone else. Gremlin came into the shelter with 6 other kittens of whom 5 did not make it. She loves to play and be loved on. She is not very vocal but her purr can be heard ’round the world when she’s in your arms. She has been known to sleep draped over the foster mom’s neck or on her legs. She loves to be warm and while she tolerates baths she is not particularly fond of them. She came to the shelter still needing to be bottle fed and battling a case of ringworm.
After becoming strong enough to come back to the shelter disaster struck! One of the older kittens she had come in with was found very sick one weekend morning and passed away soon after discovery. Diagnosis: overgrowth of clostridium. Vigilance was exercised with the remaining two (gremlin and Elrond-also in foster care and also deserving a blog of his own once he is adoptable) and when a staff member remarked that Gremlin had lackadaisically gone to the wet food bowl alarm bells went off(Gremlin is a wet food hound!). Her temperature was taken and was an astounding 91.4 and she was very dehydrated. Her foster mom(who happens to work at the shelter) wrapped her up and took her home.
After a grueling night with pedialyte being forced down every couple of nights Gremlin finally was almost rehydrated and the danger was over in a few days.
Since the scare she has been living in the lap of luxury or so she thinks. When the weather was warmer she was allowed outside to meet chickens, goats, a sheep and a horse from the safety of an exercise pen with her foster mom’s eye on her constantly.
She is approximately 4 months old and is as feisty as they come. She LOVES the laser pointer and the fishing rod type toys. Come fill out an application today or call to make an appointment for her foster mom to bring her down to the shelter.
